História Harry Potter e a pedra filosofal para o ensino de química por meio da invenção de mundos

Abstract

The use of the literary book “Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone” for teaching chemistry enables the practice of new methodologies, in which the students can expose their previous knowledge and become a key part of the teaching and learning process, thus enabling the use of concepts related to chemical solutions and reactions that can be worked through the alchemy in the book, and the history of alchemy can be considered the beginning of chemistry, so it makes it possible to compare the potions and spells together with the current chemistry knowledge. The aim of this paper was to investigate a didactic sequence based on the story of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for teaching chemical solutions and reactions through the invention of worlds. The research methodology refers to an analysis of a didactic sequence in a qualitative approach, carried out in four remote meetings with the History of Chemistry class in the Chemistry Undergraduate course at the Federal University of Pampa. The meetings made it possible to obtain results through the author’s diary, a word cloud and a questionnaire. The results showed that the application of this methodology enabled a more active action of the students during the class, motivating them and making the approach more attractive, which instigated the students to want more applications with this methodology of invention of worlds. Thus, it is possible to observe that this methodology can be applied in the classroom as a meaningful approach for students, facilitating the understanding of the contents and leaving them more motivated in relation to the subject, making them more creative and active in the classroom, bringing them closer together to the teacher. The relevance of bringing new methodologies is that they can serve as a tool to demystify the teaching of chemistry and make it attractive to students, but above all transforming the subject into a subject more accessible for students.
