A cooperação técnica Brasil-África no âmbito de segurança e defesa entre 2003 e 2014

Abstract

The present research has, as main objective, to analyze the relations between Brazil, South Africa and Angola, between 2003 and 2014, when it comes to cooperation in defense and security. Through a review, it aims to verify how the relations were accomplished, its idealization and deepening; to explore the geostrategic importance of the South Atlantic, seeking to understand the role that the region had in maintaining the power of the issues involved, namely Brazil, South Africa and Angola; and explaining the creation of organizations such as ZOPACAS and IBSA and their contribution to the building and the strengthening of ties between those governments. In this sense, the research problem seeks to understand how the cooperation between Brazil and Africa in the area of security and defense can be configured as a tool of projection of African regional power, considering the cases of South Africa and Angola, within a period that goes from 2003 to 2014. The hypothesis raised is that the deepening of relations between the two coasts of the South Atlantic was an important tool for the regional power recommendations of the African countries with which Brazil promoted cooperation initiatives, being fundamental for all involved.
