Sobre toques, olhares e o às vezes não visto: a construção dos romances entre mulheres em telenovelas brasileiras

Abstract

Present in Brazil since 1951, soap operas have consolidated themselves as an important element of formation of opinion and construction of concepts for the country's society. Lopes and Hamburger have been studying the impact of this production on everyday social life for years, and this research appears as yet another strand of discursive analysis of this element that is so important for an entire society. Through qualitative bibliographical and documentary research, it was possible to construct the analysis presents here. The objective of this work is to analyze the narrative discourses of soap operas in the construction and perpetuation of an imaginary about lesbian existence and romantic relationships between women in society observing/interpreting possible patterns of behavior and presenting evolutions in the constructions of the representations of these characters over the years. It is important to recognize the narrative elements that build the speeches and question them, the soap operas analyzed represent different moments in Brazil, they are: Torre de Babel (1998); Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003); O Segundo Sol (2018); Um Lugar ao Sol (2021). The temporal difference is important for us to understand changes and reinforce concepts about lesbianity in Brazilian television productions and to think about other ways of representing non-heterosexuality on TV.
