Avaliação da abordagem sobre os resíduos sólidos no ensino fundamental no município de Uruguaiana

Abstract

Environmental education is highly relevant for the transformation of the planet, which is why it is being treated as a cross-cutting theme from the National Curriculum Parameters (PCNs) and related to important competences and skills to be developed by students in the final years of elementary school, such as establish the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the Gaucho Curriculum Reference (RCG). Thus, this dissertation sought to investigate the understanding of Elementary School II students, in relation to the theme of solid waste (garbage) and how the approach on the subject has been occurring in science teaching classes. Initially, an analysis was made on the Political-Pedagogical Projects (PPP) of school institutions, in order to identify the presence of the aforementioned themes. The research is characterized as a qualitative and quantitative exploratory study, applied in five schools in the municipality of Uruguaiana / RS, with students and teachers of Elementary School II, in the area of Natural Sciences. The results of this study are presented in the form of an article and a manuscript. The article analyzed whether the Political-Pedagogical Projects of the schools address topics such as environmental education, solid waste, garbage and the environment and it was found that most documents need to explain and expand the discussion about environmental education. Manuscript I contemplates objectives II and III, which seek to analyze the understanding about the solid waste theme of students from the 6th to the 9th grade of elementary school and to verify the pedagogical approach on solid waste in the pedagogical practices of science teachers. Their results show mismatches between what students and science teachers say, related to the approach on solid waste. Greater motivation is needed, with regard to projects or activities aimed at environmental education, by institutions in relation to teachers. It is urgent to offer continuing education related to the theme of environmental education with an emphasis on solid waste. It is hoped that this study will contribute to changes in reality, which may generate moments of study about Political-Pedagogical Projects and with regard to environmental education, focused on the management of solid waste, building reflections and different pedagogical practices in a different way. to enrich teaching approaches in science classes, leading students to be the modifiers of the communities where they live and of society as a whole.
