Abstract

A study was carried out on the approach of the Pampa Bioma theme in Didactic Books of the 6th year in order to verify if this theme was being approached in an equivalent way to the other Brazilian Biomes and also if this approach is consistent with the scientific knowledge about the theme . Fourteen textbooks of the 5th grade and 6th year of Science were analyzed, with dates from 2001 to 2012 that were used until 2016, according to the FNDE stamp available at public schools in the municipality of Dom Pedrito-RS. The analysis was done through images, texts, maps and graphs. The information was compared to verify if they were in agreement with the scientific knowledge of the subject. The information was compiled in tables, being identified the number of times that the subject is treated, being also inferred information about the truthfulness of the subject. To complement the data, we compared the number of times the Pampa Biome is theme in Didactic Books. It is important to emphasize that the analysis in the 6th year (old 5th grade) is due to the main theme of the content of Sciences, which deals with Biodiversity, Ecology and Ecosystems. From the fourteen books analyzed, only six (42.86%) present all the biomes: Cruz, (2006), Gewandsznajder, (2006, 2009, 2012), Shimabukuro (2010) and Gowdak and Martins (2012). The Pantanal, Amazon and Atlantic Forest Biomes were the most approached. On the other hand, the Pampa Biome was less representative, being present in only nine (62.29%) specimens. Five books (37.71%) did not even cite the Biome; four (14.29%) approach in only two pages; and three (21.43%) in less than one page. According to the results presented in the tables and in the analyzes of the Bioma theme in relation to scientific knowledge, texts are scarce, with discrepancies in information and fragmented content. It was verified that the increase of the scientific knowledge on the Pampa Bioma did not reflect in greater approach of the subject in Didactic Book of the 6th year of Sciences and the information is disjointed in relation to the scientific knowledge. Based on this study, it is noticed the need of support of didactic materials to increase the knowledge about the Bioma Pampa Theme and also allow a better regional insertion of the student to its reality.
