A ressignificação do papel político do exército no Brasil contemporâneo

Abstract

This work refers to the meaning of the political role of the army in the post-dictatorship, more specifically, to the manifestation of power in the institution, in a comparison between the time that the Army was in the government, ie, the dictatorial period, and post in 1985, when there is a transition to democracy. Seeks to understand the structures that support the military system and how the power is unleashed upon insertion in the decision-making arena and democracy based on such analysis to the theory of the power of Luhmann. The study therefore gives and analyzes how the Army constructed power relations, ie, the meaning of political paper, at first, that is, during the dictatorial regime, and in the subsequent period marked by democratization. Also, search in Luhmann's theory support for the confirmation of the hypothesis that the political role presented by the institution has a new meaning in democracy. For Luhmann power needs to renew itself constantly under threat of collapse and realize that the Army seeks to readjust according to changes in their environment.
