Agroecomulher: o protagonismo das mulheres agricultoras familiares de Itaqui-RS

Abstract

This investigation addresses the role of women family farmers in the locality of Curuçu-Itaqui-RS; It starts from the empirical observation in university extension action that women have increased their participation in work, income and in the management of production units, redefining the historical relationship “men's activity” x “women's activity”. It reflects on the implication of these changes in the power relations that, historically, institute gender inequality. The research assumes an exploratory character with a qualitative approach, constituting a case study; the methodological procedures involve the use of the oral history of women farmers in Curuçu, interviews with key informants and a questionnaire applied to women participating in the AGROECOMULHER project developed by the Center for Studies in Agroecology of UNIPAMPA; it uses observations experienced in visits to families and workshops proposed within the scope of the project; the investigation will be complemented by the literature review. The objective is to achieve knowledge of the situation experienced by women family farmers as agents of the changes that have taken place in social and political relations, as well as in their participation in the implementation of public policies. This work made it possible to understand the protagonism of women family farmers in Curuçu, in the interior of itaqui, and it can be said that women play an important role in the activities developed, where their 'work showed strengthening and appreciation; that is, today these women consider themselves farmers with their rights and participation in associations.
