A matemática sob a perspectiva de alunos de uma escola pública da região da campanha

Abstract

This work presents a study on the perspective of students in the final years of Elementary School in relation to mathematics. In this research, we sought to identify which factors interfere for the constitution of the relation between the student and this subject, which is sometimes considered difficult and complicated. It is understood that listening to what students have to say about mathematics is necessary an approach of this student to this topic. This way, a collective and in person interview was performed with 8th and 9th grade students from a public school in the Campanha region. To achieve the objective, a qualitative approach methodology, with an exploratory nature, was adopted for the investigation and development of this research. The investigation instrument for data production had thirteen guiding questions, alluding to the interest of these students in relation to the mathematics. As outcome, the research subjects reported that they did not always repudiate mathematics. This fact occurred during the advance of the years with the introduction of abstract contents. It was noticed throughout the studies that the lack of understanding of what was being solved is also a factor that interfere with enjoying the mathematics subject.
