O direito dos deficientes auditivos: uma investigação sociológica e jurídica

Abstract

The work in question deals with the history of the hearing impaired, going through ancient civilizations and how they were treated by their peoples. The law that regulates the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) as the official language of the deaf person will also be examined. Thus, the rights of these groups and their relationship with the listening society will be addressed. Just as this theme is related to the broader discussion on Human Rights (HR). In summary, the sociological and legal issues involved with this important and current issue will be analyzed. Thus, it has the objective of showing the importance of LIBRAS and the rights of the person with hearing impairment since primary education, also having the importance of dealing with the inclusion of Brazilian Sign Language in the curriculum, from the initial series, thus highlighting the sociological and legal dimensions of the subject. Its methodology used was essentially qualitative, focusing on the literature review on this issue and on the analysis of legal documents. As a result, I hope that through this work, we will acquire a minimum knowledge of the importance of Libras and that we will come to understand a little about the rights of the hearing impaired.
