Abstract

This study aims to discuss the lack of representation and protagonism of black characters in books. It is intended to discuss the paradigm of inferiority race and how through storytelling it can be reduced or combated. the book of children's literature can serve as a resource to introduce and retrieve knowledge, it serves to a reflection of the social context in view of all the diversities of our society. THE valorization of the ethnic-racial theme must be approached from the family level. the children being encouraged by the family, they can become readers, knowledge-producing subjects, they need to feel represented in the pages of stories, especially black children. O development of the little ones as readers contributes to the formation of their identity and self esteem. Based on the work “O Pequeno Príncipe Preto” (2020), the author Rodrigo França affirms that one of the ways to fight racism is through reading. With this work it is intended reflect on the importance of accepting everyone in society, regardless of color or social class.
