Reflexão sobre uma primeira prática docente de uma licencianda negra : a temática do racismo no ensino de línguas adicionais

Abstract

In this work, I analyze and reflect on my first experience as a black intern and a teacher of Spanish from a theoretical and personal point of view. The supervised internship is part of the Additional Languages Undergraduate Program: English, Spanish and their Respective Literatures, at the Federal University of Pampa, Bagé campus. In five classes, I addressed the transversal theme of racism. The elementary education students ranged from 13 to 16 years old in a school located in a peripheral region of the city. The classroom audios, as well as the video diaries of the trainee about the respective classes, were transcribed leading to the analysis and reflection of some aspects, such as “the interruption of the black student’s speech”; “the assertion of reverse racism by white students in the class”, ‘“the students’ attempt to deny existing racism with the argument that "we are all equal”’ and, finally, “the satisfaction, as a black teacher, to see the students developing a work with racism as a subject”. After reflections that include the subjectivity of the trainee-researcher, some suggestions for those educators who might intend to work with the theme of racism in the classroom are incorporated in this research.
