A marginalização das perspectivas de gênero nas Relações Internacionais

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze the process of evolution of the insertion of gender issues within the framework of the study of International Relations (IR), with a view to the marginalization of women and the feminist perspectives in this scenario, in order to understand the origin of such phenomenon and thus achieve gender equality through international mechanisms, initiatives and instruments. In this work, which is structured in three chapters, we start from a historical-descriptive analysis based on bibliographical, documentary and historical research about the insertion of Feminist Theories and the Gender Perspectives in the debates directed to the IR. We intend, in the first chapter, to contextualize the term gender and its insertion in the scope of IR studies. In the second chapter we discuss the theoretical and methodological contributions made by women to the IR, presenting the main methods and categories of analysis used by the Feminist School. The third chapter aims to address the Human Rights of Women, retaking the debate on the main mechanisms and international initiatives created to ensure the reduction of discrimination and inequalities between men and women and the fulfillment of their rights and opportunities, focusing in particular on the Convention on the Rights of the the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the CEDAW Committee. Finally, the final considerations present a synthesis of the results found throughout the research, as well as the confirmation of the hypothesis of the work that deals with the causes of the marginalization and submission of women originated in the construction of knowledge and based on a binary hierarchical society, androcentric and uneven.
