A (in) visibilidade da mulher negra em escolas de Bagé

Abstract

The discussion about black women in spaces has been made recently, as a delicate agenda, due to issues of race and gender. In view of the educational environment, this research aims to analyze the presence of black women in this space, especially about their invisibility in history, society, education and schools, with that, a qualitative and quantitative research was carried out in 12 schools from the east side of Bagé, where 321 questionnaires were delivered, so that it was possible to observe the racial self-declaration of school employees, whether they were teachers, principals, supervisors, guidance counselors, secretaries, servants and cooks. To analyze these data and relate them, a historical context was made about slavery and its effects on black women, also analyzing structural racism, intersectionality of black women and feminism for black women. Subsequently, the analysis of results was carried out, starting from the number of answers to the questionnaires, investigating aspects of them, such as the number of male and female employees, their education, age group, self-declaration, with the purpose of answering to investigate the general objective of the research, being this the invisibility of black women in schools in Bagé. It was found that such invisibility happens, since black women are a minority in all positions.
