Cuidado de enfermagem a criança com hidrocefalia e sua família: revisão integrativa

Abstract

Pediatric care involves the child and their legal guardian, who is most often the mother, but may also be the father or other family members. The family faces challenges and doubts for the care of the child and needs support and guidance from the nursing team. These doubts and anxieties increase when the child they care for has special health needs, thus increasing the demands for guidance to be given by the team (HOLKENBERRY; WILSON, 2011). Among these dysfunctions, hydrocephalus can be mentioned. Identify in the scientific literature the care demands that the nursing team identifies for the child with special needs related to the child with hydrocephalus and his family. Method: This study is an integrative literature review, based on the model proposed by (SOUZA; SILVA; CARVALHO, 2010). The six (6) steps to carry out the integrative review according to the author will be presented below. Choosing the theme and elaborating the guiding question for the research, inclusion and exclusion criteria, information to be extracted from the selected studies. Results: After analyzing the data, it was possible to build a category: Care demands for children with hydrocephalus and their family identified by the nursing team. Thus, it is highlighted that nursing can provide guidance to families on the proper care of their children and also encourage them to participate in groups of parents. Health education was presented in this study as a care strategy for children with hydrocephalus and their family.
