Impactos socieconômicos da cultura da soja no espaço urbano do município de Dom Pedrito.

Abstract

Since the beginning of its occupation, Rio Grande do Sul was based on the primary sector economy. Cattle ranching in the South half of the state have its origin in the early days of the occupation of the Gaúcho agrarian space, currently this scenario is changing, areas where they were previously occupied by cattle and sheep today is noted large presence of agriculture. The rice in flood plains and soybeans in hills. The objective is to analyze the resulting socioeconomic impact of the advancement of intensive farming of soy and its participation in the organization / reorganization of urban space in the municipality of Dom Pedrito and has the specific aim 1) to analyze the economic impact of the increase in soybean area in Dom Pedrito; 2) analyze the urban social impact in Dom Pedrito; 3) evaluate the influence of soy in urban space for the development and deployment of new agricultural enterprises. To achieve the objectives interviews were conducted in six companies that are directly related to the production of soybeans. According to research, in 1900 was cultivated soybeans in a colony of Dom Pedrito, but this time had no economic significance for the city. From the decade of 70’s/80’s, there was a significant presence of the soybean crop in the Campanha Region and was responsible for new production arrangements in their primary industry. The availability of extensive areas featuring the estates of the southern half were favorable to incorporation, via lease of soybean. It can be argued that since the installation of agricultural enterprises in which the interviews were conducted in Dom Pedrito, a significant increase in soybean acreage. For agricultural companies where the interviews were performed, increased soybean acreage represented employment generation and for the county and also attracted new investments in this area for the city, with the installation of new agricultural enterprises.
