Leitura das potencialidades patrimoniais do município de São Gabriel – RS

Abstract

The present work sought to present and analyze quantitatively and qualitatively, and through a present reading about the history of the city of São Gabriel, historical and cultural heritage that are part of the preservation of the collective and individual memory as well as the formation of the identity of the Gabonese people and their relationship with the city and its residents. This work wants to encourage research among teachers, students and historians, recognizing the importance of history, cultural heritage and patrimonial education in schools, with culture being an essential element of differentiation between one people and another, passed from generation to generation, to the over the centuries, must be cultivated and preserved. This research was carried out through a historical rescue with the need to review the history and culture of the municipality of São Gabriel, located in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in the Southern Region of Brazil. Through a bibliographical study and interviews it was verified that if by one aspect there is a patrimonial legacy, by another there is a distancing of the same by the schools and the population. This evidence through research reflects the need for public policies to encourage memory and effective actions by the Municipal Councils of Culture and Tourism.
