A contribuição dos fatores socioeconômicos no desempenho escolar: estudo de caso sobre a Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Sagrado Coração de Jesus de São Borja-RS

Abstract

The objective of this study was investigate the contribution of socioeconomic factors in school performance. For so much, was realized a case study in the EMEF Sagrado Coração de Jesus from the city of São Borja. Were adopted the methods of literature; research sites; case study for the collection, interpretation and comparison of quantitative data; and formulation and implementation of questionnaires for qualitative content analysis. The contribution of socioeconomic factors in the school performance of students was understood through analysis of the following factors: creation of income programs of the Federal Government to assist in education; local resources, and the political actions of the government and civil society to meet the educational needs; collaboration of the City Hall, school infrastructure, training of teaching professionals and family educational investment. The IDESE was used to indicate the socioeconomic situation of the county, and the School Census, the Brazil test and the IDEB for measuring the educational situation of the school, between 2009 and 2011. Also it sought check the opinion of the school community, through the use of questionnaires in EMEF Sagrado Coração de Jesus. The result of this research found that socioeconomic factors of the city contributed positively in the academic performance of students in the early years and the final years of EMEF Sagrado Coração de Jesus, in the corresponding period of investigation, 2009 and 2011. Therefore, the Political Science, allows to enlarge the look about the importance of joining the government, the school, parents and students in the qualification of basic education.
