Abstract

Introduction: The serious patient needs advanced support, instituted through medical devices, and may develop Pressure Related Medical Device Injury. These injuries are common in healthcare settings and require attention, especially for the patient implications. Justification: High incidence and prevalence of Pressure Related Medical Device Injury in critically ill patients; aggravation of the problem in view of the current pandemic condition; and that medical devices are indispensable in the ICU context. General Objective: To elaborate and validate the bundle for prevention of Pressure Related Medical Device Injury in adult patients in critical situations of life. Methods: The study used Delphi technique, involving analysis of items by experienced judges. Structured in four steps: Composition of the expertises committee; elaboration of the bundle; content and appearance validation; and content and appearance validation index. The Statistical Package for Social Science 20.0 was used to calculate the index. Results: A bundle was developed from 21 cares listed by the expertises. It was also possible to identify that the orotracheal tube, nasoenteric/nasogastric catheters, bladder delay/extensor catheters, and non-invasive ventilation masks, were the medical devices that most caused Pressure Related Medical Device Injury. Also, the general bundle validation CVI was 91.83%. Conclusion: The bundle is expected to contribute by decreasing the incidence of these injuries and increasing the quality of services. In addition, the bundle is used as a tool for teaching and guidance of care, since this digital material is easily accessible and can be shared with the team.
